             Crimes against children can and should be prevented. Would you let your eleven year old child walk home from a friends house by themselves? Hopefully you wouldn't; hopefully, you would have some common sense and have someone pick them up if you could not drive them home. Also, if the judges in the United States would be less favorite or less soft, and put the criminals behind bars, where they belong, then we would not have as many running around on the streets. Parents need to be more responsible for their children, and they need to take care of them and not just let them run around on their own at the age of eleven. The main reasons why Carlie Brucia was kidnaped and murdered are, her parents were not being responsible and left her alone, and Smith was favored by his judge.
             Children under the age of 15 should not be left alone. There are many things that could happen to children out on the streets. They could be tempted to do drugs and they could participate in vandalism and stealing. They could also, as in Carlie's case, be kidnaped and murdered. If Carlie had not been left alone, to walk home by herself, then she would have never been kidnaped and murdered. Her parents should have made arrangements for her to get a ride home. If Carlie's parents had been more responsible, they might still have their little girl today. That is exactly what she was, little, and too little to be walking home from a friends house. Now, if it would have been in the same neighborhood, a few houses away, then I could see them letting .
