College Volleyball Compared to High School Volleyball.
There are many of us who have attended either a high school or college sport event. I think that it's pretty obvious why people like to attend more college games than high school. My example of this is based upon the topic of WSC Volleyball and Williston High School Volleyball.
My first primary example between the two has to deal with the off season preparation. I have played volleyball at the high school level and at WSC. I can honestly say that an off season workout at the college is much more complex than the high schools. At the college we will start our off season workout right after Thanksgiving. At the high school they just don't have any type of activity until about mid summer. In high school the individuals do have a choice to do certain workouts or play in the off season but there is nobody to encourage this to happen. An example of this is that we will make a team of usually our own team mates, and then we will go play at the Recreational Center in the City Leagues. Preparation doesn't just mean working out or playing off season volleyball. It also includes the study of other teams that will be played during the season. In college ball the coaches and the team will watch videos of other teams to get more knowledge of court play. If we had some huge rivalry that we were going to play, we would always do this as a team. High school there is no such talk of the subject.
There is always practice time for a sport. In volleyball we have practice once a day like anyone else, but in college practices a team will wear the exact same practice gear to create the image and feeling of being more as a team. Whereas, high school any individual will wear grungy shorts and a cut off t-shirt. .
Where would a team be without their coach. I completely love my college coach. She is more like a best friend than just a coach that makes you run all the time.
