Pearl Habor

Pearl Harbor was a truly fun and educational movie. This movie is of course based upon the events that happened at the Pearl Harbor naval base on the morning of December 7th, 1941, including both the time before it, and the events that followed. This movie takes place in Hawaii on the deck of nuclear aircraft carrier. Throughout the movie, the main focus was to portray American patriotism. They did a great job. This was an action packed drama film. The original script was drafted from Tennessee, after the naval ship heavily damaged at Pearl Harbor. The major characters in this movie are: Ben Affleck, Tosh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Alec Baldwin. The director of this film is Michael Bay. He also directed Bad Boys, The Rock, and Armageddon. Pearl Harbor was nominated for best score, best song ("There You"ll Be"), and a 2002 golden globe. This movie is rated pg-13 for sustained intense war sequences, images of wounded, brief sensuality and some language. Its running time is three hours and thirteen minutes. From the beginning to the end, the movie was suspenseful.
In Pearl Harbor, America had yet to enter the war, the Allied troops are fighting it out overseas, barely able to keep their ground against the tyrannical march of Adolph Hitler's Nazi's. It is only when Ben Affleck, in typical American bravado, volunteers to fight oversees, before America is even in the war when the spirits of the Allied forces sense hope that they may win with the help of the Americans. .
This movie portrays the battle scenes excellent. Michael Bay was able to pull off a 40-minute battle sequence of such a large scale and area of coverage without it becoming confusing or muddled in some way. In the history the battles were much more bloodier than in the movie. This was only done for rating purposes. The attack on Pearl Harbor was great as was the drama that played out just before the attack occurred.
