This course has showed me that environmental science is a very important subject. It has opened my eyes to serious issues in the environment and how these problems cannot be look over. Environmental science has taught me that the environment is extremely important to everyone on the planet. .
Out of all the issues we have covered this year some have pertained to me more than others, especially issues concerning the beach.
The beach is a very important aspect to my life. It's my favorite place to be, it provide so much entertainment, it's a great place to relax and it also provides me with a job for the summer. I spend my summers at the beach and when people take it for granted by polluting it, this makes me mad.
Pollution is a problem almost everywhere on this earth. People shouldn't pollute no matter where they are but it especially upsets me when there is pollution on the beach. Trash, left behind by beach patrons can be a death threat to animals. For example, a plastic six-pack soda ring can suffocate an animal like a bird if it is left lying around un-cut.
Trash is not only deadly but it makes the beach look terrible. When I sit on the beach I would prefer not to look at empty soda cans or rappers. People just don't think about what they are doing. They are hurting the environment by not correctly disposing their trash and making the earth a dirtier place! By simply throwing away their trash in a trashcan, the beach will be a cleaner, safer place. They just make it harder for the people running the beach and pollution shouldn't have to be an issue, they have to many other things to worry about.
Every day beach patrons are not the only ones to blame for the pollution. Some businesses dump their chemicals and hazardous waste right into the ocean, the ocean I love to swim in, the ocean where millions of sea creatures live. Over the years some beached have reported hazardous waste, such as used needles to be found washed up on shorelines.
