My Recommendations are to be broaden and to strengthen his gross motor development for the next age level with activities geared to turning somersaults and simple gymnastics.
Physical Development - Fine Motor Skills.
March 26, 2003 - Wesley was able to demonstrate his fine motor skills by sitting cross-legged on the carpet while putting a fifteen piece puzzle together.
During free choice, on May 15th Wesley was observed pouring water from a teapot that was being used during a tea party. Wesley poured himself a cup without any spillage.
Wesley sat at the computer during early morning drop-off and played the computer. Wesley demonstrated the ability to move the mouse and click to complete a computerized pre-school puzzle game. .
Recommendation - Fine Motor Skills.
Wesley's fine motor skills seem to be on the appropriate developmental level for a three year old. Wesley grasps with his whole hand and not between his fingers. This skill should develop with practice.
Language Development.
Language Development - Receptive.
Wesley appears to have appropriate development in receptive skills. On May 16, 2003 during morning meeting Wesley followed and listened to each step of the song "Head and Shoulders." Wesley seemed to be aware of what was supposed to happen next because he would jump ahead but then return to the directions. At times Wesley would pretend to do things. For example he pretends he is "Batman" flying through the air "Come on Rob En" he calls to one of his peers. "You go this way". Wesley also will pretend to be his father ordering the children to "Go to bed, daddy will tuck you". By this it would appear he understands real life and has experienced this at home sometimes. During clean up, Wesley sings the clean up song and picks up after himself. Wesley needs redirecting at times because he will begin to play again but when reminded he will return to his task of cleaning up. .
Language Development - Expressive Skills.
