Bridget Jones's Diary

Bridget Jones's Diary is a modern romantic comedy, set in London. Bridget Jones (Renee Zelleger) is an attractive 32 year old single career woman. .
Following a rebuff by Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), at a Christmas party she decides on some New Year's resolutions. These are: lose weight, drink less, stop smoking and most importantly to meet Mr. Right, all of which to be monitored in her diary. .
Bridget then almost immediately becomes attracted to her sexy boss Daniel (Hugh Grant), who seduces her through email. The repressed and stuffy Mark Darcy (barrister) is also lurking in the background and who turns up at all the same social events. Bridget and Daniel begin a steamy and passionate affair which ends when Daniel turns out to be a less-than-perfect match. .
Then, just as her interest in Mark begins to emerge (after he said he liked her just as she is) Daniel returns on the scene. These two suitors have a previous personal connection and constantly provoke one another to obtain Bridget's attention.
Bridget gets great support from her friends, one of whom is foul-mouthed and the other who is self absorbed and gay, who only seem to get together to consume copious amounts of alcohol. .
             .
Bridget leaves her job in the publishing company because of Daniel and ends up working as a television presenter, which results in some hilarious outcomes. .
Daniel and Mark both turn up to her birthday party, which ends up being a hilarious middle-class street brawl. Will Bridget choose delicious Daniel or the maddeningly straight-laced Mark?.
             .
             EVALUATION.
             Bridget Jones's Diary.
An adaptation of the book, I found it to be both entertaining and funny. Bridget Jones's (played by Renee Zellweger) life mirrors the story of millions of women in modern society. It is a witty comedy about people trying to find their perfect match. It might appeal primarily to a female audience, but men may find they relate to many issues in the film.
