Functions of Congress

There are many things congress has the power to do. One of the most important one is the passing of bills. We have learned how such actions happen, through text the book, and by experiencing it ourselves with our class" issues. Not only that but we worked together to find the information we needed for the job. It was quite an experience of how bill can be passed.
Of course our project was not perfect but it was close enough to know what really happens to a bill. We first started by choosing the senate, which were the kids with the highest grades. Then we were put into groups of four or five to make committees. Each committee had a real name and two issues to discuss about. With in the committee there were groups for each issue. Everyone worked together with their partners to find information on their issue so that they could discuss it at the meetings. To do this, groups researched and made polls on the issues, so they could find question to ask or comments to discuss over the subject.
Our group had the Resource committee. We divide the committee on two groups, one for each issue. Our subjects were timing of filming and lockers. Lockers were my partners" and my subject. We researched problems in such areas, and found out that there we kids that did have access to a locker or were sharing lockers with a friend causing problems in the hallway. We made polls to get an opinion out of the student body to see how they felt about the issue. Many said that the halls were too over crowded and lockers were the main reason for it. Also we found out that kids were sharing lockers making the problem worst. So we decided to solve the problem by adding new lockers in the K building to try to get rid of the problem.
At the hearings every single issue was brought out. Some committees were very strong on their issues and others were not. During the cessions committees found out that they could not do anything about their issue because it inflicted with the disadvantages of the actions.
