Family

What is Family? The meaning of family can be defined in many ways. To me, family is the most important thing in life that consists of one husband, one wife, and their children. But not everyone believes that is what a family is. What happens when the "perfect family" isn't so perfect anymore? In lots of cases there are single family homes, whether if it's a mom raising the kids alone or a dad. Couples who are expecting a child and they aren't married are they not to be considered as a family. People who are separated, divorced or widowed and have children shouldn't they be considered as a family. Who is to say what family is, when it is something different for everyone.
Growing up I was already in a dysfunctional family, my dad had about 4 other children before he met my mom. They had me and they weren't married. They married a little while after I was born. Honestly I can say I never had any memories of my dad while I was growing up. I was born in Jamaica and before I could acknowledge who he was he came to the United States. He use to come back and visit, and bring gifts. I am not close to my dad at all; I don't think any of my siblings are either. Now my parents are separated, it's been almost five years now. It never really bothered me .

because I was not close to my dad anyways. In a way I was kind of happy. Now I live with my mom and my little brother, I am real close to my oldest half sibling she is my best friend. So I guess I can say that being in a single family home is a natural feeling, since I was basically raised in that way.
When I was younger, I use to think that I was the only one who was living with one parent. Then as I made friends and we started to get familiar, I realized that my friend's families were not all perfect. I mean some lived with both parents but they were never around, so those friends practically raised themselves and now they are forced to deal with their childhood problems.
