What I Can Do to Combat Drug & Alcohol Abuse in My Community

 

            In today's society, the war on drugs and alcohol abuse has become a major issue in our communities. Many communities have started programs to make the situation better, but some have failed and the situation has become worse. There are many organizations and volunteer community groups as well as law enforcement, which are continuously trying to make our communities safe. This struggle is known globally as the "War on Drugs". .
             The war on drug and alcohol abuse is a very big part of our society. We face difficult decisions everyday dealing with drugs and alcohol and how they affect our cities. We must teach our children at a young age about the issues on drugs and alcohol and make sure they are aware of the dealings that go on. One program that helps do this is the "Just Say No" program taught in the public school system. The "Just Say No" movement was coupled with rigorous law enforcement and produced solid results. One could help this program by encouraging younger students not to get involved with drugs and alcohol and to set a good example for them. The "Just Say No" program is just one example of a drug and alcohol abuse prevention program. People can get involved with these drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs or may donate their time, talents, or funds to help these organizations. There are also many laws that help enforce the abuse of drugs and alcohol. One thing a person can do to help combat in this area is to support your local law enforcement officials. One could also help by working for a law enforcement agency, such as your local police force, or even as high up as the DEA.
             There is no easy way to solve the problem of drug and alcohol abuse, but taking action requires determination, willingness, time, and funds that are needed. Anti-abuse programs such as "Just Say No" and other abstinence programs, along with laws to enforce drug and alcohol abuse help greatly in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse.
