Track

But when coach wasn't watching a lot of people didn't do anything. So my first impression that everyone was as dedicated as I was shot down. As we had more practices more and more people showed up late and didn't do much. By the end of the year people just acted as if they didn't care and the .
practices were really unorganized. A lot of that was the coach's fault and I came to the conclusion that he really didn't care that much about track because he was the head football .
coach also. So the things that I had heard about track being as important as football at my high school was not the case. It only got worse at the track meets.
My first year of track meets was a real learning experience. I remember myself warming up before the meets in the beginning of the season and as I looked around none of the other throwers except a select few were warming up. I kind of felt out of place but I kept warming up and got ready to throw. Then the man who was running the shot put called all the throwers over to go through the rules to get the throwing started. My name was called to go throw as I looked around I noticed people messing around and not focusing but that did not really bother me. I ended throwing fairly well. The rest of the season was like that for me. Usually when I would get done throwing I would go and watch the rest of my teammates compete. That was an ugly site no one was focused and they looked as if they were there for the social reasons not to compete.
My second year of track I was injured so I didn't get to compete but I still went to practice and worked out and trained. I watched a lot of practice and it was the same thing people messing around and not getting anything done. I ended up going to some of our home meets to help out. I talked to some of the other competitors while I was working and they had really bad attitudes but some of them were from really good teams, yes teams.
