Knowledge Is Power

             .
According to the American Heritage College dictionary, knowledge is "the state or fact of awareness or understanding gained from experience or study.learning specific information about something." This means a person has the resourcefulness to obtain and utilize useful and informative information in order to become well informed citizens who can make intelligent decisions based upon their understanding and awareness of everyday situations. Does this make them powerful? According to the American Heritage College dictionary, power is" the ability or capacity to act or perform effectively." Without knowledge, how would this, the ability to perform effectively, be possible? .
A wise man (my father) once told me that"cursing, or the use of vulgar language, is just the inability of a feeble mind to forcefully express itself." In other words, how can a person who can only communicate with vulgarity effectively perform in today's society? They cannot, because they do not have the power that the command or knowledge of their spoken word could give them. Without some understanding of the written word a person will never be as powerful as they might like to perceive themselves. .
Knowledge is like a bank or a reserve full of understanding with an awareness of information just waiting to be drawn on at a moment's notice. Similarly, like a bank account, a person's knowledge reservoir should receive useful and intelligent deposits regularly. The larger amount it contains, the more freedom the account holder has to obtain what they want or need. For example, in today's work force, the person with the "degree" or with the wealth of knowledge will most likely be found in the more powerful positions. Today's young college graduate, with degree in hand, will usually start out in a business position that gives him more power and money than some twenty year veterans.
