Coming from a long line of family who has served in the medical field has impacted me. My mom is a former Army medical corps officer, my aunt is a physical therapists, and I have several cousins who are nurses. One who was a nun and served in Guatemala for over 20 years. Hearing them talk about what they have accomplished, and what they would like to do has always interested me. I would like to be a nurse because you can do so much. You can live anywhere, be in any field, work at various places, and there is a high need for nurses. .
The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse are to aid and care for the sick as well as I am able but also not only to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable. No matter what field I begin in, ER, maternity, intensive care, etc, I would work as diligently and as efficiently as I could. It would not matter whether I had the day or night shift or if I was walking out the door to go home and a patient came in and needed help. Every patient that I work with will have my best intentions of helping them as well as I can.
I would work to not only acquire my B.S.N. but also to prepare myself for the N-CLEX so that I would pass the first time. By January of my senior year, I would like to have already placed myself in a job at hospital for when I graduate. Once I have been in the hospital setting for a few years, I would like to go back to school and receive my Master's degree and specialize in anesthesiology. .
When I first go into the field of nursing, I am not sure which aspect I would like to be in but I am sure about making a big impact in helping people and I feel in this career I can make a difference and a positive impact. This seems possible to me because I come from a family of people who devoted their lives to serving people and health care and I would like to do the same. .
