The Passion of the Christ movie review

Then this in turn will damage the sense of community that has existed between the Christians and Jews. However, they do not understand that according to the Christian faith "Jesus came to Earth in order to suffer and die in reparation for our sins. No race, no man, no priest, no governor, no executioner killed Jesus; he died by God's will to fulfill his purpose, and with our sins we all killed him." (Ebert). God had already planned this, and it did not matter what people were to persecute Jesus because it was going to happen regardless of their decision to do so.
I first thought that some of the Jews speaking out against the film was just an overreaction. Most Jews still fear being killed because they are Jewish. There are so many people always complaining about being offended by words or actions, and it would be easy just to group all these people together and classify them all as whiners. However, I feel Jews have a good reason to do this. They were once murdered for the anti-Semitic beliefs of others. For this reason they can be fearful of something that might inflame anti-Jewish feeling. Christians should understand this. Suppose they lived in some countries in the world today where they could be murdered for their religion like the Jews were. They would speak out against films that might portray them in a bad manner. I think that through this movie Christians and Jews can have a better understanding of one another. Gibson himself has said " not a single person has expressed that kind of an emotion. No one comes out of this move hating the Jews there always will be, demented bigots amongst us."(Roberts). Many people do not understand that the movie depicts a historical text and not anti-Semitism. However, misinterpretation of this can lead to anti-Semitic behavior.
Gibson reportedly cut a line from the movie. The line was from the Gospel of Matthew that says "His blood be on us and on our children.
