Rosenblatt

Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium holds the aspirations, successes, and the dreams of many young ballplayers. Many have dreams of someday playing here, but only few get the chance of stepping foot onto this "Field of Dreams." This field is the striving point for every Division 1 baseball team. The College World Series is held at Rosenblatt every year. About thirty-thousand people come out to watch every game at this hot spot in Omaha, Nebraska. Most of the top players that have ever played the game have not been able to set foot on this dream. Few have played, but many have dreamt about this heavenly place. I was given the opportunity to prove myself and play here six times for two state titles as a high school player. My aspirations and dreams had come true, but were snapped on this field two years in a row. Although this field left a sour taste in my mouth, the successes and the memories along the way will last a lifetime. .
The wind had picked up and was whipping out towards left-center. It wasn't an overpowering breeze, but just strong enough to leave the flags billow as if they were hung on the laundry line in the backyard. The crimson stained dirt had been freshly chalked, while the designs of diamonds, alternating forest to lime green every other diamond, lingered in the grass. The sky was transparent, one could only see an endless ocean of blue that glimmered as the sunset beat off of it. Mouths began to water as the scent of freshly plump hotdogs traveled throughout the stands. The stands were jammed packed; it was as if one was trying to stuff that extra piece of luggage that won't seem to make the trunk shut. The roar of the crowd left everyone's ears ringing for the entire game; there wasn't a silent moment during the game, not even during commercial breaks. As the last inning approached, the vender yelling, "Popcorn, peanuts, peanuts here," was overpowered by the thunderous crowd.
