So after many years of watching and finally taking some college classes about religion, my view about religion started to make more sense. For example the Ten Commandments express the following: .
I AM THE LORD THY GOD, THOU SHALT NOT HAVE STRANGE GODS BEFORE ME.
THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD THY GOD IN VAIN.
REMEMBER THOU KEEP HOLY THE SABBATH DAY.
HONOR THY FATHER AND THY MOTHER.
THOU SHALT NOT KILL.
THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
THOU SHALT NOT STEAL.
THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR.
THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR'S WIFE.

From past experiences, people who go to church don't always follow these rules. It's like people change when they go to church and change back to who they really are when they get out of church. Take the last commandment, "Thou shall not covet thy neighbors' goods" how many people do you think have borrowed something from their neighbor, friend or even relatives and never given the item back. The reason for this rule is to avoid conflict with their close friends, and keep their relationship in peace. Another example would be "honor thy mother and thy father." How many of us, has lied to our parents to get what we want. For example, lying to our parents about studying at a friend house, when really you are going to the movies. We all go through this phase in our life called the teenage years. .
Another selfish deed is helping others. Do we really help others to help others, or do we help others to feel good about themselves. The initial reason is to feel good about ourselves, if that was not there, why would anyone help each other.
Another example of people doing things for their selfish needs is the Prophet Mohammed or Muhammed. Though he is believed to be the last greatest prophet from God, he is still human and humans make mistakes.
