The benefits of bicycle commuting.
My opinion is that in big cities where the traffic during peak hours is so heavy, they need to be well planned to implement bicycle commuting. For instance, in cities like Atlanta public transportation hasn't totally been developed and it needs an efficient public transportation system that can be combine with bicycle commuting. I think that cities need to be designed ahead for this new way of transportation. However, people should consider bike commuting to work for being healthy, saving the environment, lowering the cost of riding a car means, and reducing of parking space.
Commuting to work by riding a bike improves health and fitness and reduces stress of people at their work place. The biggest problem in the U.S. is a sedentary lifestyle. Less than 50% of Americans get exercise, and less than 10% get enough. Bicycling ten miles roundtrip a day requires 350 calories vs. 18600 calories of energy that a car's trip takes, and it would give the opportunity for those who don't have time to exercise to do it on their way to and back from work. Riding a bike to work for beginners can be a good for toning your calves, thighs, and hips and at the same time burning 350 to 700 calories an hour. Because bicycling to work can improve people's aerobic capacity, is an easy way to incorporate an aerobic activity to every day life. In addition to get more oxygen to their heart, a UCLA study has showed that biking can relaxes the central nervous system, improves mood, and mental focusing. If people commute to work by Cars, on the other hand, it can raise their blood pressure, makes them less tolerant and creates bad modes. In fact, the benefits of exercising while riding a bike to work, has showed to companies positives results in their employees reflected on their productivity. Some of the companies" benefit are that workers tend more to we awake at their work places after biking from home, it maintains people cheerful and alert because the brain is full of oxygen and the endorphins are increased, which has a beneficial impact in productivity.
