She was at a time to be married to Zeus, but because it was told that Thetis would bare a son greater than his father, Zeus decided to marry someone else. Achilles was dipped into the Styx River, at which every part that was touched would not be able to be harmed. However, because his ankles did not touch the water, his heels became the fatal spot. He was a mortal man who favored by all immortal gods. From then on, Achilles was to be known one of great physical strength. It was shown before he was born, that his mother would bare a child who would be stronger than most. So the status of Achilles was shown before he was even born. .
"I"m coming to your hut and taking Briseis, your own beautiful prize, so that you will see just how much stronger I am than you, and the next person will wince at the thought of opposing me as an equal (Homer 194)," is what Agamemnon said to Achilles after he was told that he had to give Chryseis back to her father. Even though Achilles is supposed to be physically strongest, Agamemnon claimed to be the stronger one out of the two asserting that no one would dare go against him, not even Achilles. To one, Achilles may not be a God or mortal who is given the respect that he might deserve. However because respect is not present for Achilles, Agamemnon does not care about the humiliation that he receives in front of friends and countrymen, he merely verbalizes that Achilles is known just for his bad temper and physical strength. Nevertheless, Achilles tries to harm Agamemnon, however does not due to Athena telling him to calm his temper and that he is going to get three times as many gifts than Agamemnon because of his arrogance. On the other hand, if Athena had not came, one can think that Achilles would have killed Agamemnon because of his temper. Not because he was worried about his status and how people would view it, or how he should give Agamemnon his respect for being a part in helping his countrymen take over the Troy.
