I think this song is about a man that is comparing himself to superman. We all know about super man and his amazing powers and how he is always there to save the day and keep the town from danger. In this song super man is a symbol and gives us a image that is used to describe the character. The title kryptonite is another symbol I think is used to describe his friends or maybe one close friend. Kryptonite is superman's greatest weakness. This song tells me that it is about a man who wants to know if his friends will always be there for him. To back this up I quote this from the song "As long as you be my friend in the end" he is saying no matter what happens will you be there in the end. He asks questions in the song . His tone is serious and needs to know the answers.
His voice suggest the mood and expresses this through his words. .
Looking at the first verse;.
I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind. .
I left my body laying somewhere in the sands of time,.
I watched the world float to the dark side of the moon.
I feels there's nothing I can do, yeah.
There is a strong pattern in the first verse, the use of rhyme creates an effect that gives it a smooth rhythm. Also each line as approx the same syllables which is important to keep things flowing. There is also alliteration which is the repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of the words next to, or near each other, this produces an effect. The words are walk and world, I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind. In the second line the two words are somewhere and sands, I left my body laying somewhere in the sands of time. .
His mood changes from feeling like there's nothing he can do to angry in the chorus. He asks the questions he needs to know to ease his mind. He asks.
If I go crazy then would you still call me superman.
If I"m alive and well, will you be there holding my hand.
I"ll keep you by my side with my superhuman might.
