"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1 Nelson's New King James Version).
Throughout time there have been people who have tried to disprove the belief that a holy God created the earth on which we now live. This belief has been fought by politicians, scientists, and even religious leaders, but in the 1800's there was one man who would shape the opinions of many. He would make the claim that this world wasn't created, but it had evolved over the course of billions of years. He had little to no evidence to back up his theory, but to this day there are still people who believe the claims that he made. This paper will bring several key arguments against the theory of evolution by highlighting the flaws that exist within the theory, as well as, strong arguments for Creationism. This will in turn give credibility to the belief that God created earth and not geological phenomena that have shaped the earth over the course of billions of years.
In order to better argue against evolution, one must know the beliefs that surround creationism. The Bible teaches that God created the world out of nothing. He didn't use pre-existing materials, but he simply spoke this world into existence. In his book, The Battle for the Beginning, John MacArthur states that "One of the unique features of the creation account in Genesis is a repeated stress on the divine creation by fiat--meaning that a simple decree from God brought the created thing into being" (49). Hebrews 11:3 also states that "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." This does not mean that all of creation was a direct and immediate act of God occurring at the very beginning of time. Man is a good example of this because God did not create man out of nothing, but rather he fashioned and developed man out of something that he had already created.
