Do you think juveniles should be tried as adults? Well, personally I do not think they should because they there are another ways of dealing with juveniles rather than just putting them away with other adults. I believe that they could make something of their selves instead of just sitting in a jail cell doing nothing with their lives. I believe that they should get some type of counseling instead of sitting in jail cell. I also believe that instead of them just sitting in a cell doing nothing they could be in a classroom getting an education. So in other words I believe that there are alternatives other than sending them to jail. .
Three states, including North Carolina consider a juvenile at or below the age of 15. Ten states consider juveniles to be 16 or younger. The other 47 states consider juveniles to be 17 or younger. However, all 50 states in the US consider a person to be an adult at the age of 18. So in North Carolina, if you are 16 and commit a crime you can be an adult in court but not anywhere else? That does not make any sense. So I personally feel that if you commit a crime and you are a juvenile then you should be treated like a juvenile and not like an adult. Twenty-four states have no minimum age specification to where a juvenile can be transferred to an adult court. The minimum age in some states starts as low as .

12. So what they are saying is that a 12 year old is an adult that makes no sense 12 year old that commits a crime so bad that they feel should be trailed as an adult should be in a classroom and getting counseling so that they maybe figure out what is causing the young population of children to act this way and maybe they can find ways to lower the rates of the younger population of committing crimes. .
I believe that by the states just "dumping" juveniles in jails and DOC's it is not going to help the situation any because if they go to jail at a young age for a long time, when they get out they are not going to have many opportunities because any jobs do accept people that have criminal records.
