Materialism

Then, the next day, they come out with a cell phone that has a camera in it. And, if one wanted the camera in their phone, one would not be able to have it added in. One would have to go out a buy a whole new cell phone that has the camera already in it, even though, the phone that one already have now is still new.
             Another reason why Americans are very materialistic may be because, that it may have been the way they were brought up. Some of them may have grown up in a very wealthy home. They may have received everything that they have ever wanted. All the new things that came out they got. So, to them, it is just normal to get everything that they want. Or, maybe they just wanted these new things because they were the so-called "new trend," and they had to have it or they were not cool. By getting everything that they wanted when they were younger, makes them think that they have to have everything that they want when they are older. Also, maybe we are so materialistic because we see advertisements everywhere all the time, for example; television, radio, billboards, mail, etc. By seeing these products being advertised all the time, something that may have looked okay to buy, suddenly looks really good. The more and more one sees these advertised items, the more and more they want them. And, by seeing these advertisements all the time, it eventually persuades us to buy whatever is being advertised. If someone, who lives a simple life without all of the detail that we Americans have, would take one look at us, then, they would be able to tell that we are very materialistic.
             Americans are very materialistic, but why are some of the other countries not as materialistic as we are? One reason may be because they do not have as much money and technology as we do. This means that they do not have something new coming out everyday because their country is not very rich. One may assume that there is not as much advertisement everywhere as we have here.
