Terror

Hussein would be more than happy to sell it to them. He's dealt with the US before and would be happy to in the future. It gives him the money he needs to run his nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons programs as well as to fund his military. Jeff went on to say that he is not blind to the fact that oil is a driving cause, but certainly isn't the main reason. He thinks our government has the security of our nation, and the concern of Iraq's people far above oil.
Jeff agrees with the war in Iraq 100%. I asked him how he could support something that could potentially kill 1000's of civilians. He replied that Hussein is already killing thousands of them and will continue to do so. At least when the US attacks Iraq, they will not be deliberately targeting and attacking civilians. Unlike Saddam who purposely targeted civilians on a huge scale and who has used chemical weapons on them. All the civilian deaths that will occur as a result of US attacks will be accidents. At least there is a chance that the killing of civilians will stop when the US wins. Some say that this war is going to make the Arab world hate us, therefore, causing even more of a threat to the US in the long run. There is no doubt that the transition period to a "post-Saddam Iraq- will be difficult for the citizens there, mainly because they have never known freedom, they won't know what to do with it. However, this war is the first step to their liberation. People should not have to fear their life or use any kind of force in order to be heard politically. Under Saddam's reign, the people of Iraq would be executed should they ever speak against the dictator. The stories of how they punished and killed people who spoke out against the Iraqi regime require a strong stomach to say the least. They range anywhere from being beaten repeatedly on the souls of their feet, to being shredded in some sort of shredding machine (face first if you were lucky, feet first if you were not).
