American nationwide health insurance is a proposed plan to eliminate HMOs (Health Maintenance Organization), Medicare and PPOs (Preferred Provider Organization). The plan consist of hiring professionals to investigate and set a nationwide policy for citizens in order for people to receive free health insurance.
The current health insurance is medical insurance that pays the larger expenses that can be incurred when a person or a family member, see doctors, go to the hospital, or seek other costly medical services. Medical insurance will allow a person to obtain high quality medical care without severe financial hardship to someone or their family. Without medical insurance, a persons assets, or intended assets can be taken away if a large medical/hospital bill were to occur. Medical insurance insures someone assets and your access to good medical care. The problem in obtaining health insurance is the large premiums and high rates set by HMOs and other organizations. Provisions such as deductibles, deductible carryover, family deductible, Co-insurance percentage, out of pocket maximum and benefit ceiling are somewhat beneficial but tend to confuse and seriously hamper someone from trying to understand health insurance.
Nationwide health insurance has not been taken seriously because of the major changes that the medical profession would face due to a total opposite of the plans they are operating with today. A serious change in health insurance now would create a massive breakdown on HMOs and Medicare causing many to lose their jobs and those who already posses any of the above type programs would of course lose their coverage. Another hamper to nationwide health insurance is the problems that are occurring already in Canada. As most people know, Canada and some smaller nations have already started a nationwide health care program, but are already facing a reform on the program due to corruption and the problem of over crowding of hospitals.
