Being a video game aficionado, it is extremely important to know where to get the best bargains and service available from retailers in my community. Although both Game Stop (also known as Planet X and Babbage's) and Electronic Boutique specialize in all things video game related, one of these retailers sticks out, for me, as the best in the business. They both share reasonable prices and offer the exact same merchandise, yet it is the subtle differences that make one shine above the rest. Game Stop is a better video game retailer than Electronic Boutique because of its staff, prices, and customer rewards.
When shopping at a video game store, I believe it is important to have staff that is knowledgeable and courteous. Upon entering a Game Stop store you are immediately greeted and asked if you need help. I have found that Electronic Boutique's staff is more concerned with other issues and only acknowledge you when you approach them or are ready to pay. This is only the tip of the iceberg. While Game Stop staff is extremely knowledgeable on things such as game information, game play, and release dates, the staff at Electronic Boutique is just there to take your money and stock the shelves. Overall, Game Stop is a leader, thanks to great customer service from a dedicated staff.
When shopping for bargains, price is definitely an issue. While they share the same prices on new releases, it is their previously played game prices that make a big difference. Electronic Boutique greatly over prices their previously played games. Sometimes the difference can be as much as ten dollars on the same product. Also, when the prices of certain games drop at Game Stop stores, they tend to stay at the original price for longer periods of time at Electronic Boutique. This is yet another reason why it is better to shop at Game Stop.
Finally, and to me one of the most important issues, Game Stop's customer rewards far exceed anything Electronic Boutique can offer.
