Random acts of violence in the United States is increasing everyday. More and more school shootings come about every year. The children of America are being shown that this is what our society is supposed to be like. The television we watch and the videogames we play are a disgrace to our country. There is more violence on television now than there has ever been since television was brought about. The violence children are being exposed to appears to directly relate to the violence we see in our schools. You hear about a six year old boy shooting a six year old girl and you think, "How can that be possible, they"re six?" It is possible. Children don't hold the ability to know that what they watch on TV isn't real and could really kill someone. Children are out of control with no supervision or discipline in their lives. They are growing up much faster than which they should be. They gain more control at a much younger age. All this is because of the lack of control and discipline in our society. .
Television is a huge asset in our culture. Adults watch about two hours of television each day, at least. Children, on the other hand, watch a lot more. During this time children are watching violence and taking in the images of things that could potentially kill someone. These children don't realize that TV isn't real. They don't have the ability to tell what is real and what isn't. Wrestling is a big factor in today's violence. Recently a boy killed a little girl trying to do a move he saw on a wrestling show. He thought it was ok to do because he saw it on TV and there wasn"t a bad outcome of it. We are showing that it's ok for these things to happen and nothing bad comes out of it. This proves that children cannot understand the consequences of their actions, increasing the acts of violence even more. .
Video games play an enormous role in children's acts of violence. Watching graphic scenes of violence desensitizes children perception of right and wrong.
