YOUNG BOY NEARLY DROWNS IN HEROIC BAY RESCUE!.
Yesterday, mid afternoon, a young boy by the name of Harley Matt went missing in the Bay after embarking on a fishing trip with friends. It is believed that the dinghy that Harley was in capsized near Pelican reach. The rest of the boys got picked up by a trawler which spotted them a half hour after the incident. Harley, however, had already drifted off with the current and was no where to be found. As the trawler pulled in to dock, it informed the local authorities of the incident and told them that there was still one boy missing. Immediately, a search party was organized and set out to find Harley. As the Daylight slowly dimmed, so did the hope of tracking down the boy. That was until the last man that anyone would expect to be searching for a Matt, Skip Duncan, arrived in his boat with Harleys brother, Carl. It is said that Skip knows the local waters better than any one, and everyone hoped this was true as the two set off in the opposite direction to the rest of the search party. Skip Duncan stated "Well, I knew these tides were strong round this time of year and the young fella's only little so He wasn't going to put up much of a fight." After a swift move by Carl Matt to turn the boat around so the sun was behind them, the duo spotted the exhausted Harley floating near the reeds and picked him up immediately. We caught up with young Harley after he got some rest and asked him how he dealt with his ordeal. "Well we were just fishing around the bay when suddenly the boat flipped and we all went under. Everyone was splashing and panicking and I thought "Bugger this" I"m not going to sit here and drown so I tried swimming to the island. The current was a lot stronger than I thought and it kept dragging me until I was to tired to swim any more and it pulled me over into the reeds where I could stand up. I just stood there until Carl and Skip came and got me.
