B) Though Finny was competitive he never let it get in the way of his friendships and when someone was better than him he accepted it and encouraged them to be even better, such is the case when he admits that Gene is better at school work than him.

A) Gene is constantly comparing himself to Finny in sports as well as in Finny's attitude, and Gene also appears to be jealous sometimes.
B) Many times Gene has to lie to others to cover up his actions, such is when he pushes Finny off the branch and Brinker asks about it.

I think that in the book one of the main points the author tried to show was that if you are nice to others you will in the end have a more enjoyable life. With Finny's attitude he was able to enjoy everything in life even when life it's self even seemed to be against him. He took every challenge in stride, and through the way he lived he even helped those around him to enjoy there life. .
