Affirmative Reaction

(Lynch) .
Its not only the Caucasian and Asian minorities that are in uproar over Affirmative Action. Many African Americans as well as Latino citizens are seeing the discrimination as means of debasing minorities. They believe that the act insinuates that members of minorities can't earn their place in industry and education through temperance and diligent efforts but have to have positions given to them. While these policies may be beneficial to minorities, many see it as unjust and unequal. I was discussing the matter with a Latino friend of mine, I recall him stating: " why can it just be even and equal? I can earn my place in the world as well as any white guy." In saying this my Latino friend generally summed up the position of most of the minority citizens I have spoken to that expressed their troubled social conscience.
To find true equality and to eliminate racial preference and its effect on our national community we must resort to social Darwinism. Every individual should live by the sweet of his brow , not the color of it. Yet the blind eyes of justice have been opened to recognize those who (in a politically correct sense) are deserving of compensation for the persecution of past relatives. This makes the efforts of majority members practically in vain when in competition with someone who's great -great- great -great -great grandfather was discriminated against, even if that majority member has very immaculate credentials. But how could this be? The American people bask in the radiance of sober minded government with an racially ambiguous eye. We live in the kingdom of great intellect and philosophy, we are the champions of humanism, aren't we? I am afraid that the American people are dillusinal this patriotic sense. Our nation is too preoccupied with following politicaly correct trends that they fail to reconize injustice until they themselves fall victim to it in some way.
