After eating five slices of pizza, I went home exhausted but still outrageously happy. As I lay on my bed, starring at the ceiling, I acquired a huge smile on my face. Replays of the last five seconds of the game flashed in my head until I was quietly sound asleep. I had experienced the true meaning of happiness through this very moment. "David, weren't you suppose to be off ten minutes ago?" asks my manager with a puzzled look. Now, I am headed for the final game which takes place promptly at seven o"clock, two hours from now. Until that time, I will have to lace up my "Air Jordans" and prepare for this anticipated game. .
I step out onto the court to play the most significant game ever played in my life.
I have been playing basketball ever since I was seven years old but this is the first time that my team has made it to the finals. Twelve years later, I get to this dream, and I'm enjoying every moment of it. Over and over again, I repeated to myself "Just one more game to go, just one more game to go!" This final game took place inside a local recreation center; where the bleachers were full of parents and friends crowded in a massive gym, a basketball court as big as the NBA's. While putting on my uniform, I reminded myself that this is the last organized basketball game that I will ever play. Next year, basketball will have to take a backseat because I will be occupied with work and getting use to the transition from high school to college. Within the locker room, I could hear the loud music being played by the deejay and I am constantly reminded of walking into a high school gym dance. I had the butterflies hovering in my stomach as I sat down and relaxed, whereas each of my teammates is doing their own pre-game ritual. Ryan was talking to his basketball in the same manner that a pet owner trains his pet to do a new trick. George, on the other hand is so calm and nonchalant about the game that he's on the corner taking a nap.
