The story Maus taught me that the experience of the holocaust impacted those .
who imprisoned their for the rest of their lives. For instance in the story Maus .
Vladik was very "cheap" he tried his hardest to waste nothing. He does this .
because while he was at the concentration camps food, warm clothes and anything .
else that they had their was a luxury. Besides making survivors "cheap" it .
forced them to form racist against others. For instance When Vladik met his .
first black person, his things were stolen, from that moment on Vladik trusted .
noone with black skin no matter how nice they really were. .
In the Story Maus II the author used different animal masks for the different .
characters. For instance he used mouse masks for the Jewish characters. This .
helped me to understand the story on a completely different level than I think I .
would have had the author not used the masks. The people with mouse masks on .
were people who were ashamed of being Jewish. When I say this I mean that they .
felt like less of a Jew. I believe this to be true because they did not have to .
go through the horrible things that the Jewish Prisoners went through during the .
holocaust. However their was one instance in the book that a survivor of the .
holocaust was wearing a mask. I was thinking that the author had made a mistake .
at first but, I now know why the author put the mask on him. Just like Vladik's .
son was ashamed that he was not in the Holocaust, this man was ashamed and felt .
like less of a Jew when he did not die during the holocaust with his fellow .
Jewish prisoners. .
In the story Maus I learned how much of an effect the holocaust can have on .
someone's family, even if the whole family was not a part of it. For instance in .
the story Maus Vladik's family was having a difficult time handling him. Vladik .
did many pesky things like being cheap, yelling in his sleep, having everything .
done perfect and having everything done right when it is ordered.
