Abortion today is defined as the termination of pregnancy before birth, resulting in, or accompanied by, the death of the fetus. Some abortions occur naturally because a fetus does not develop normally or because the mother has an injury or disorder that prevents her from carrying the pregnancy to term. This type of spontaneous abortion is commonly known as miscarriage. Other abortions are induced, that is, brought on because a pregnancy is unwanted or presents a risk to a woman's health.
There are two vastly different groups that represent both sides of abortion.
The first group is pro-choice. The pro-choice group supports that a female is a human being with the intellect to decide for herself weather or not she wishes to carry her child to term within the current given parameters of her personal living situation. Pro-choice further supports her right to act upon this decision. Organizations such as Planned Parenthood consider themselves pro-choice and assist women in making educated decisions regarding their pregnancy.
The second group is referred to as pro-life. This group believes that life begins at conception. This group generally does not support a females right to decide weather or not she will keep her child. Pro-life works to ultimately suspend a females right of self-determination once she is pregnant.
There are two separate segments to pro-life called Pro-completion they are defined as follows:.
The first group believes that a female must carry her child to term since she is the vessel obligated by her pregnancy to do such. These groups generally only believe in ending the pregnancy early in case such as certain death caused by pregnancy, such as ectopic pregnancy. A lot of devoutly catholic and Christian people fall into this category.
The other Pro-completion group believes that a female may not resort to abortion even if it means certain death of the mother via child bearing.
