The Field of Nursing

While working as a nurses aid I have found that there are 3 different levels in expertise in the nursing field. They are Certified Nurses Aid, Certified Medical Technician, Licenses Practical Nurse. Each possesses a different degree of knowledge but they all have one thing in common. That is, they all try to give the best care to the patients they have. .
The highest level of expertise would have to be Licenses Practical Nurse (or LPN). LPN's are responsible to apply shots and insulin to those who need it. They also are the people who start and stop tube feedings. They also give physical evaluations to ensure the safety of the residents. To become a LPN one must go through rigorous studying and hands-on training. It also states that you must first become a Certified Nurses Aid.
The Second highest level of training is a Certified Medical Technician (or CMT). CMT's are responsible for passing out medication to the patients. Making sure they get their medicines on time and the right kind. The training they receive is that of a pharmacist, that is they must be able to recall all of the information about a given drug when need be and in some cases decide if an alternate medication should be taken.
The most basic of these professions is a Certified Nurses Aid. A CNA provides direct care for the patient. They take care of all aspects of a patients stay with the given facility. This is the starting point for all nursing professions because if a nurse does not know how to care directly for the patient they how can he/she care for them indirectly?.
The field of nursing is all about the patient. They do everything from waking them up to getting them dressed to making sure that they are feeling good. Even though some might say that being a nurse is an easy job it is in fact a full time job that takes a lot of knowledge and patience. .
