We Are The Future

It's a scary thing to consider that we, Generation Y, are the future of this world. With war, terrorism, and crime running rampant we can only hope to rise above and beyond this, and make this world safe once again. This is a generation raised on the words of people such as Marilyn Manson and Eminem. It is true that music can not be blamed for most of the violence that goes on in this world, and particularly in school, but it can not be said that they have ever inspired anyone to become anything worthwhile. While the music is vulgar and violent, so too is television and movies. The television is covered day after day with images of war and violence, while some of the biggest box-office hits include such movies as The Matrix and Terminator 3, movies that do nothing but promote violence. While it is true that these, just like music, are only entertainment it is also true that they do, indeed, promote violence. Violence is something that we have become used to, and that is a sad thing to consider. If we do not put a stop to this in the near future the human race may be doomed to self-impolode, and destroy itself. The only time violence should be used is in self-defense and even then only enough should be used so that your opponent is disabled, not destroyed. So, yes my fellow Generation Y'ers it is scary to consider that we are the future of the world, but also slightly comforting to know that we are surrounded by violence and realize that there are terrible consequences and repercussions.
