Legalization of Medical Marijuana

The legalization of medical marijuana in the United States would benefit millions of people throughout the country. If properly controlled and regulated, this prior illegal substance could become one of America's most helpful medications. Patients that would benefit from the use of marijuana, but suffer instead, have a right to demand treatment from marijuana. The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, NORML, is in a constant battle against the laws that confine the use of medical marijuana. However, the issue of legalizing medical marijuana must be noted as an extremely controversial subject, one which must be addressed with careful consideration and a respect for the current laws that prevent abuse.
In an effort to establish a link between the positive medical uses of marijuana and the negative abuses of marijuana, one must first understand that marijuana is currently mostly used as an illegal substance. Additionally, when applying the positive aspects of medical marijuana use, one must also be sure consider the negative side effects and how it will impact the user. The use of medical marijuana, something which has been proven to have minimal negative effects, must also be proven as a positive treatment if it is to become legalized. Therefore, if more people become educated in understanding more about marijuana and its positive uses, it is only a matter of time before this issue erupts into a national debate. .
             Statement of purpose.
Through various research and personal interpretation, it has proved evident that the marijuana should be legalized for medical purposes. Currently, there are states in America that allow the use of medical marijuana, a number that has increased over the years. While the national government's policy towards marijuana is still in favor of no marijuana use, state governments can regulate their own laws and eventually change the national policy if there is enough support.
