Part I: Provide a history of the formation of the constitution and of early American government through Jefferson's Presidency. Conclude this section with a description of the structure of American government [all branches] and politics at that time.
The history of American government starts several year before there was even an American government with a series of events mainly between the British colonies and Great Britain developing into problems that would cause a change of power to the colonists themselves. Under British rule colonists were required to feed and quarter British soldiers in large number without compensation or even necessarily respect from the receiving soldiers, which may have caused the soldiers to become tyrannical and oppressive to the colonists, murders (Boston Massacre) and crimes committed by these troops against colonists created much hatred toward those soldiers. With all of the troops staying in these colonies they did not offer much in the way of service as a military in protection against Native Americans and other policing duties. To add insult to injury the colonists were progressively being taxed more for reasons deemed by Great Britain, on of which was the ever so protective military. All of the tax acts of the day (sugar act, stamp act, Townshend acts, etc.) were cockamamie labels for purposeless taxes imposed on the colonists. Even just isolating these tax and military problems as part the issues colonists were made to deal with there was essentially nothing they could do, the British legal system (referenced in the declaration of independence) was mock-enforced conveniently for the British agents so as they would receive little or no punishment leaving early Americans feeling as though justice has not been served but rather they were jerked off. All of this happening since 1764 when Britain began rolling their tax snowball it only took 2 years for colonists to really start highly organized groups aimed at revolting the British rule, the Sons of Liberty being one of the first to start removing tax agents and inciting boycotts and eventually aggressive actions like attacking British agents and destroying British property.
