Old Testament

The two themes which I have chosen to talk about in this essay are Faith and Triumph turns to trouble through sin. Although these books are historical, the lesson we learn from them are very much needed today to all Christian believers.
             FAITH.
Genesis is also known as the seed plot for the bible. Every major biblical theme finds its origin right back in Genesis. Although faith is only mentioned twice in the Old Testament it does not mean that there was a lack of faith by those who served the Lord before Christ was born. Their faithfulness is clearly seen by their actions and works throughout the Old Testament and Abraham's life is a great example.
There are two factors that serve as foundations for our faith and Abraham understood these faith foundations. To be a man or woman of faith we must have unswerving faith in these two factors about God.
1 God is powerful therefore He is able (Romans 4:21).
2 God is faithful therefore He is willing (Hebrews 11:11).
A great definition for faith can be taken from Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is being sure of the things we hope for and certain of what we do not see-, it is seeing the promise's of God because we believe it and not believing the promise's because we see it.
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, he obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. By faith, Abraham, even though he was past age "and Sarah herself was barren "was enabled to become a father, because he considered Him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. (Heb 11:8-12).
Abraham was almost 100years old when he was promised a child and his wife was barren (Rom 4:19) but he was not wavered by unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened by his faith and gave glory to God.
