Ethical Choices

Tim showed us the he had grabbed a cell phone, probably a cost of about 200 dollars at the time, and started to make calls. We made several prank calls, long distance calls, and even called some of our friends. We had a good time that night and we thought that was the end of it.
The next morning we woke up and all ate breakfast. After, we watched a little television and then headed out on our roller blades, we didn't say a word about the cell phone. Several hours later Brian, who didn't walk with us, asked what we had done on our walk. As we told the story I could tell Brian was glad he didn't come and that he didn't like that we had stolen a cell phone but, just like me, Brain didn't say anything. After the story was finished he only had one question; "where's the cell phone?" When we figured out that none of us had it we quickly headed back towards Brian's house, hoping his mother had not found it yet. Brian's mom knew that none of us had a cell phone and if she found it she would question Brian, and then would question us. When we got to the house his mom wasn't home. Being happy that we could avoid a possible confrontation and not have to give an excuse for why we came back, we began looking for the phone. We turned Brian's room upside down looking for the phone. When we realized that it wasn't there, we were convinced that we lost it on the cart path. All of us being slightly nervous, we headed back to out to enjoy the rest of our Saturday afternoon. Later that evening I was at my house and I got a phone call from Brian. He said his mom had found the phone in his room and had questioned him about it. Brian, not being nervous because he wasn't involved, lied to his mom and said he had no idea where the phone came from. I thanked Brian and quickly tried to call my other friends, but I could find any of them. Scared of getting in trouble; I sat down and tried to think of a story that could keep us out of trouble.
