Defining Success

Another example of someone putting all their effort into achieving a goal would be the national and world champion cyclist Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong is man who has put all his effort into doing what he loves. Due to his immense amount of hard work he put into accomplishing his goal, Lance Armstrong has become a five-time winner of the Tour De France and managed to do it all while battling prostate cancer. Teachers and Lance Armstrong are people who have made their lives happy by fulfilling their heart's deepest desire. When classifying what accomplishments are worth calling successful, a person does not only have to consider earning a career or winning the Tour De France five times as success. Some individuals may define success as being able to make artistic masterpieces which can be accepted by the public. For a composer, success may be having their work praised by adoring fans from around the world. Similarly, holding an exhibition in a famous art gallery may connote success for a painter. Completing a goal successfully may even be as simple as a child learning to ride a bike, a college student earning an "A" on their English paper, or a little league team winning their baseball game. The idea is that any goal someone sets for themselves, by achieving it with a tremendous amount of effort they can truly say they are successful.
When viewing the definition of success most people often disregard that success can also be thought of as someone being happy with their life and the person they are. Not everyone is successful if they are not one hundred percent happy with the person they have become. For instance, take someone who is on the bit of the shy side and maybe has some insecurity problems. These people are not going to be as joyful, and they are going to have a harder time reaching a goal because these qualities are hindering them from doing so. People with these types of personalities may have set a goal or goals that are just not possible for them to accomplish.
