Throwing and catching skills

On Monday, January 14-th, the students applied various throwing and catching skills in game like conditions. After 10 minute aerobic work out the students played the game of dodge ball. .
The aerobic work out was combination of running and rope jumping. The kids were split in four groups. While two groups were running, the other two groups were doing the rope jumping routine. After running two playground laps the kids switched assignments. Some of the kids with respiratory problems were walking instead of running. After the first part, students were instructed to go on the field and prepare for the game of dodge ball. Evidently, the kids played this game before. Each student knew what to do and where to go. They played dodge ball under slightly different set of rules. One captain was placed on each side of the rectangular field. The rest of the students were inside the field. The game began with one of the captains throwing the ball at the students inside the field. Each time the ball skimmed a student, that kid would go on the side of the field from were that ball was thrown. After the student went on the side of the field, from were the ball was thrown, he/she would become an active thrower too. All students from the same line of the field cooperate in targeting as many students as possible. At the end, the winning team is the one with the most students on the same sideline. If the student, who is on the field, catches the ball with his hands, he/she could stay there without going to the sideline.
Throughout the lesson the teacher used adequate methodology to reach his goal with students. During the aerobic part, the teacher combined running and rope jumping to break the monotony of the exercising. The kids got good cardio work out without getting bored or over exhausted. He also understood the needs of kids with respiratory problems and let them walk instead of run. While playing Dodge ball, the teacher changed the size of the ball several times in order to enhance the coordination and precision.
