The Allegory of The Cave

I believe Plato is saying that one who is enlightened has the mind to laugh at one coming from the darkness because this person coming from the darkness will soon be enlightened being able to see what he was unable to see in the darkness. On the other hand Plato is saying the unenlightened man cannot laugh at the enlightened man coming from the light back into the darkness because he has not seen the light. The unenlightened man is unable to understand the realities of what the shadows really are whereas the enlightened man can understand.
I agree with the "Allegory of the cave" because one who is enlightened contains the knowledge that he could not while in the darkness. In having this knowledge one who is enlightened has found what is good and has further found "the immediate source of reason and truth in the intellectual". Referring to Plato's observation I believe that it is better to have seen the light than to have never seen the light at all. I believe this because one who has seen the light and gone back down to the darkness understands what the shadows really are and also has the ability to enlighten those who are unenlightened.
I must say that we, the human race, are not enlightened. I say this because we are still yet to find what is good collectively. Our world is still filled with hate and misunderstanding where people are separated and classified by race and religion. I believe we will be enlightened when each and everyone of us understands what is just and good and acts upon this contagious knowledge at all times and further looks out for our fellow man in every sense.
