What exactly is going wrong with education today? Today there are about forty-million school children in America, and about half of them can either barely read, write, conduct math problems or even speak English. The American schooling system is suppose to be on the top of the scale compared to the rest of the world and even at that, the half that can read, write, do math problems and such are still either not meeting the criteria of the grade that they are suppose to be in or are so far behind that they need to repeat their schooling grade more than once. Why is this so? How can the "Land of Opportunity" not teach the people of the future the right way so that they can have that opportunity? The answer is in the teachers themselves.
In recent national testing the percentile of American children who meet the criteria of math, English and science are around the fifty percentile. That's half of the American children. This, to me, is ridiculous. The issue at hand is the American teachers. The teachers who are teaching students are not adequately teaching the young people of America properly. But why are they not teaching them properly? Did they not go through one of the highest educational systems, college? Is college to "easy" that a simple idiot can graduate with flying colors? The answer to all of these questions is no. .
Teachers in the American system are simply not teaching students properly. Today there is such a great demand for teachers in every field that they higher a lot of middle school and high school teachers at such a young age that they don't actually get a chance to learn the proper methods of teaching. Although in college they have classes for this, they don't properly get the full understanding of what a teachers struggles are until they are there. The fact that most of the American teachers out there need to take these classes for the development of teaching methods and attitudes makes it harder for the educational system.
