Why a Graduate Degree

 

            
             Education is the ignition for releasing understanding on a level that allows one to live a healthier, happy, more productive lifestyle. Education is the base that retards immoral activity, unhealthy habits, addictions and mental diseases. The same education base increases income, perpetuates educated children, establishes strong moral discipline and reduces the chances of addiction and mental illnesses. Of the many benefits that are attached to an education, I chose to continue my education so that my children will have a chance to fair well in tomorrow's society. Setting the example is a start, but building a repertoire of tools that help in the development of my children and enhance our lifestyle is what my pursuit of a graduate degree is all about.
             The first and foremost concern as a parent setting the example is that my children become loving and caring people that respect others and their surroundings. Raising a moral family is difficult enough, but many issues lead back to whether the parents were educated or not.
             Moral development comes in many forms. We are educated by the systems we grow up in. If all a person knew is that his/her children obeyed when they were slapped, kicked or punched, it may lead that person to believing this is the correct way to raise a .

Daeg de Mott "Overall, democratic family and school systems are much more likely to promote the development of internal self controls and moral growth than are authoritarian or permissive systems." (Daeg) That's not to say that educated people don't have their problem children, I know they do. The point is that there are far fewer educated family's that are caught up in day-to-day immoral activities. Without going into a philosophical debate regarding what constitutes morality, education positively breeds thought, which eventually leads to higher understanding. This chain is passed on from parents to children, of which the children of educated parents fair quite well compared to those less educated.
