What would our world be like if freedom and democracy were never an issue? Americans feel deeply blessed for living in America. Unlike many other countries around the world, America is a land of freedom and opportunity, a place where people come to be free and to live their dreams. Unfortunately, Americans must pay a big price for freedom, to other nations and to themselves.
Out of all of the countries in the world, America is one of the only nations where every individual is free. Although their freedom is limited, they have the right to many things that other people do not. In America, women are treated as equally as men, as are other ethnic groups. So, although Americans are free, must they all pay a price? Unfortunately, all Americans are forced to pay a price, a price of the worst kind. Americans must pay the price of fear, fear to live in America when other nations envy and despise there country. In their jealousy and rage, they make threats on America, threats that are often never carried out, but unfortunately, some are. On September 11 of 2001, America was attacked by terrorists of the worst kind, and they paid the ultimate price. Attacks such as this have happened before, and each time the terrorists are sure they have made America an unbearable place in which to live. Because America is free, everyone enjoys living in there, and will pull together in efforts to save it. But, Ameirca will stand together, and no matter what, there freedom will pull them together and will never fail. .
Along with other nations forcing Americans to pay for freedom, Americans themselves pay to be free. Americans pay taxes, in order for there governments to run smoothly, but Americans also work hard to keep freedom an option. American citizens must abide by strict laws and work hard to keep America a protected place. Americans pay for freedom in work, and every American works hard to make life in America a pleasurable one.
