Thoreau's essay, Why I Went to the Woods, is very inspirational to many people. Thoreau preaches that simplicity is the key to a long fruitful life. Most people are wrapped up in the detailedness of work. Thoreau was stimulated by the natural things he found in life; he shunned the artificial. For Thoreau the answer was to live with happiness and simplicity. This could not only be done inexpensively, but only could be done, indeed, if one lived simply, with few possessions. Thoreau's, Why I Went to the Woods concept shows that people should live more simple by worrying less about work, noticing nature, and avoiding unfulfilling detailed tasks. .
To enjoy nature one must worry less about their work. For most people the goal isn't reachable. To throw away their work is to throw away their lives. To Thoreau, these people were caught up in the middle of an evil governmental control. Thoreau wants people to simplify and worry about nothing. Most people don't think about nature. When was the last time someone looked up in the sky and studied the stars? It isn't uncommon, but it is unlikely for someone to notice nature before they take notice to their work. Thoreau, as do many, feel sorry for these type of people. They are addicted to the work machine that runs their lives. Thoreau wants us to not only look at the wonderfulness of nature, but to become part of nature. "Let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature, and not be thrown off the track by every nutshell and mosquito's wing that falls on the rails" .
Wilson, 2.
(The Conscious Reader, 946). Don't let little things get in the way of having peace with nature. Using Thoreau's concept of simplifying lives and not worrying about the details, one can enjoy the splendors of life.
Nature is all around us. Although to most people it is like the stars during the daytime. We"re unable to see the stars, just like most people choose to ignore nature. They have better things to do, and more work to accomplish.
