Lakes, rivers, streams, all of these are little bodies of water. But, an ocean is a large body of water. An ocean is made up of different layers that make the habitats for many animals. The ocean floor is usually sand, but in some parts of the ocean it may be rock, here the animals vary from clams to fish that can see in the dark. Then there is the mud layer here the animals are usually parasites. Then of course there is the top of the ocean, which is water were many fish live. In the tropical waters the fish's color may be brighter because of the water temp. The ocean waters have salt in them unlike our lakes, rivers and streams. If you took an animal or fish out of the ocean for your pet it would only survive an hour or two. You all know how the ocean has waves where you've been, on the beach, but out in the water were it can reach 7 ft. deep there seems to be no waves. This is because the water pressure is so low it can make waves.
The animals and fish that live in the ocean are called salt-water animals. Not all of life in the sea is fish; mammals, as in seals, otter, and walrus, Whales, dolphins, and porpoise are some of my examples. I've talked about it a lot but it's time for you to explore.
I love the ocean and hope you will end up liking it to.
