An incentive, something that has a tendency to put something to action or give it determination, is included with motivation. Different companies and corporations have different forms of motivation. The day care center, Kiddie U, offers its employees a raise in their pay every 90 days. Theme parks, such as Disney and Universal, offer discounts, free park entrance, and a form of money that can only be used at those parks. Some restaurants, such as TGI Fridays and Chilis, offer their employees free food and discounts for their parties when they come in with other people. As a manager, a person would need to think of new and original ways to motivate his or her employees, and not let the "de-motivators" bring everyone down. .
Managers are paid more money to do exactly what their job descriptions say they do: manage. If a manager has not motivated his employees and they are not performing to their full capability, then that manager is not doing their job correctly, and as a result will get a bad review. However, a manager who knows how to do his job correctly and deal with his employees, encouraging them to work to their full potential, will get a better review than the other manager for the sole reason that he is actually doing what his job is telling him to do. A good manager interacts closely with his or her employees, and is willing to give advice and help to anyone that is willing to take it. A good manager is not only a manager, but is also a psychologist, a cheerleader, a teacher, and a friend, in the light that he or she is always there for his or her employees. Management is there to be a helping hand, but their main concern is to get the job done, and to tell his or her workers what to do and how to do it. .
Motivating and dealing with people are two things that go hand in hand and they are also two things that managers need to know thoroughly about. Managers need to know that people make mistakes, and that punishing them is not going to make those mistakes all better.
