Indoor Tanning...A Risk Later On in Life

Indoor Tanning: The trend that leads to possible death.
Fashions come and go, and like most they aren't healthy for our bodies. Indoor tanning has become the fashion of today, but is it really worth the money and health risks later on in life? If you are going for the leathery, wrinkled, burnt old women look then I say go right ahead and tan yourself to death. Indoor tanning may look nice for the week, but the risks are far more damaging than you think such as: wasting money and time, getting skin cancer, an over dosage of vitamin D and damaging your organs. The "healthy" sun kissed glow may be pleasant, but we are defeating the purpose of looking healthy in the long run.
It all started over 400 years ago when Copernicus declared that the sun was the center of the universe. Throughout history the human race has based their life on this object that gives life, but cultures have changed over time and the sun's symbol has shifted from a nutrient to a question of someone's appearance. In the elder days, skin color diversified classes among rich and poor. Tan skin was a sign of hard work and labor while paler skin was a sign of higher class, tearooms, butlers and maids. In the 1920's a new fad became popular by accident when a French woman went on a cruise and obtained a suntan, not even realizing it, while new fashions were arising and people were on the look out for new trends. When she arrived in Canes, people saw that she was tan and assumed that it was the new look; the fashion thrived from then on. Tanning for women was a sign of independence and even caused a social movement. This high almighty tan fad closed the gap between men and women. By having a tan, people assumed that you had been outside, playing sports because before the tan fad it was uncommon for women to be outside. Ladies" tans proved to society that women could be outside and was a sign of athleticism. This is still going on today and from this gender issue, the fad continues.
