Brave New World- Characters

As one of the citizens notes,.
"They don't know what it's like being anything else. We"d mind of course. But then we've been differently conditioned If you were an Epsilon, your conditioning would have made you no less thankful that you weren't a Beta or an Alpha." P. 66.
As well as jealousy, Bernard has the tendancy to be childish when he finds more objects to obsess over. For example, when he brings John back from the Savage land, Bernard assumes that John is his possession. When it is apparent that John does not belong to Bernard, Bernard becomes the infantile character like many of his peers.
Because he does not know how to handle these situations, he reverts back to the immature style of problem solving, and ends up making a fool of himself. To create a revolution, we may need to look elsewhere for a leader. .
As we interact more with John (also known as the Savage) he also becomes a good candidate in changing brave new world's paradigm. An English prodigy would probably agree, and say "He reads Shakespeare for God's sake he's perfect!" John has an incredible sense of love, humanity and truth built into his consciousness. He even tries to cause a revolution in the society at the Hospital. As he throws grammes of soma out the window he shouts,.
"Do you like being slaves? Don't you want to be free and men? Don't you even understand what manhood and freedom are?".
He realizes that the hypnopaedic teachings, and the soma tranquilization have stopped them from being real, thinking, humans. He has discovered the meaning of life and (unlike Bernard) has decided to tell the victims of this brainwashing government. Ironically though, they ignore his protest for the exact reason he is protesting. They stand in horror at the waste of precious soma, and worry that they will never get it back. John is a true believer of freedom and truth, but unfortunately, the world he is in do not want those things.
