Cloning Should Not Be Allowed

I do not feel that cloning humans should be allowed, I believe it is ethnically and morally wrong.
If human beings were indeed cloned, yes, we could use the organs to reduce or even abolish the transplant waiting lists, and though this may seem like a great idea, it is in my view wrong. As stated in The Declaration of Independence all men are given the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If cloned humans were used to supply organs to people in need of transplants, it would be in violation of the previous statement. The clones, although DNA identical to another living being, would therefore would be taking the life of a human individual.
Cloning is a very expensive thing to do and is now no longer funded by the government. I agree with the choice of the government to do so, especially in times of war where governmental money could be best spent on military effort. If cloning we"re to be funded, millions of dollars would be poured into a project where success is not guaranteed. As of right now it is not a good idea to spend so much money on scientific research while the money is best used on military support in Iraq.
Cloning a human is a very complicated procedure and survival rates are not good. Cloned children could experience catastrophic birth defects of the lungs, heart and many other vital organs. Also, the child may experience a number of genetic defects such as a faster than normal aging process or premature death. Many other mammals only had a 2-3 % survival rate and this may be similar to the human survival rates. There are many lives at risk.
In conclusion, I believe that cloning should not be allowed because it is wrong to kill another human, we do not have sufficient funds at this time and the current success rate is very low.
