Mexico city is located in the middle of Mexico and is the capital of Mexico.
The climate Is cool and dry in the spring and winter and rainy in the summer and early fall. The average temp is 70 degrees in the winter and 8o degrees in the summer. The city is built on soft ground with a lot of seismic activity. Earthquakes caused substantial damage in 1957 and 1985. Living in Mexico city is a tough because of the huge amounts of air pollution. It is the most polluted city in the world. If you are out side all day the damage that is done to your lungs is the same as smoking 2 packs of cigarettes. There are strict laws in place trying to correct the problem, but as of yet little has been accomplished. .
Mexico City forms the core of Mexico in the terms of government, industry commercial, financial and political center of the nation. Mexico city is a hue producer of chemicals petroleum and automobiles. Since 1957 Mexico City has grown from only 1 million people to over 20 million. Which is the most rapid growth in history. It is also the 2nd most populated city in the world behind Tokyo. This results in extreme over crowding. 1/3 of the city is in poverty and 1/3 is without sewage.
Mexico city is also one of the oldest citys in the world. It is built on top of the Aztec city of Tenochititlan. Mexico it self has had many wars for independance from European powers as well as the united states. In the 1600s Mexico city was the cultural capital of north and south America. France took over Mexico in 1863 and ruled in Mexico City until in 1910 Benito Juarez led a revolution and recapteered Mexico from france.
